We congratulate Thomas Paparo on his appointment to the SRC position of Magis Scholar 2017.

Thomas has already started planning initiatives for his tenure next year.

Our VR group has been meeting on Thursdays after school to test more apps and their links to curriculum. The group's brief is to trial VR and recommend applications for its use in curriculum areas. It will be exciting to see what the group recommends for VR in the College.

Posters with information about the 2018 USA Space Camp are featured across the secondary campus. Interested students should speak with Mr Joosten, Mr Mazur or me. The Camp is a wonderful learning experience for students from Years 9 and 10.

The University of Western Australia's Faculty of Architecture, Landscape and Visual Arts (ALVA) is once again running a design studio during the January 2017 vacation for school students. The program is written for gifted students entering Years 10, 11 or 12 in 2017. The focus is a small-scale design project and students don't need any prior knowledge or skills to participate in the studio.

They will get a feel for what it is like to study design at UWA and develop new skills under the guidance of faculty staff.

Activities on offer during the studio include:
•       An introduction to the latest computer modelling and rendering programs
•       Talks by architects, landscape architects and visual artists at the faculty
•       Model making and drawing classes
•       Meet with current design students at UWA
•       A site visit
•       An exhibition of all the students' work at the culmination of the studio.

The studio website is: http://www.alva.uwa.edu.au/community/studio
