2013 HOUSE ATHLETICS CARNIVAL (Fr Kevin King Championship Cup)

The John XXIII Inter House Athletics Carnival for 2013 saw a change of venue. We moved away from the picturesque JTC grounds to the magnificent WA Athletics Stadium; a venue that provided the setting for a wonderful spectacle. The weather was most kind with threatening heavy showers keeping their distance. Participation levels from our students were nothing short of inspirational.

The day began with a colourful procession of the Year 12 cohort in their Houses. This parade was one of the criteria for the House Spirit Award along with Novelty events, participation levels and the House War Cry. The winning House in this category was Campion with a magnificent and supportive team effort.

The representatives of the SRC awarded their Best Dressed honours to Loyola who displayed a comprehensive wearing of the House uniform along with some elaborate and creative costuming from the Year 12's for their parade entrance.

It was a very tight tussle all day between our Father Kevin King Cup winners and runners up with only 23 points separating them. Koolyangarra managed to emerge victorious for yet another Inter House Athletics Carnival win. Individual award winners are in the table below and are to be congratulated on their outstanding performances this year:

A huge thank you to all staff involved in preparing and assisting with official duties on the day, especially the Physical Education team and House Coordinators who give so much of themselves during these events. Thank you also to Gavin Castiglioni and the grounds and maintenance staff for their assistance during preparation for the carnival this year. A special mention to the following businesses: WA Athletics Stadium for the use of their wonderful equipment and facility; Nick from Timing Solutions for making the trip across from Melbourne to provide the excellent timing equipment; and, Trophy Specialists for providing the medals and engraving. To the parents who so willingly assisted on the day, your help was very much appreciated and was yet another example of community spirit contributing towards yet another successful carnival.
