Around the Primary

Dear Parents,

This week our Year 6 students and seven staff have had a busy time exploring Canberra. The goal of this experience is to provide an empowering and educational experience for our students. We believe this opportunity to visit the National Capital and the other sites of historic and cultural significance in and around Canberra enhances their learning across all the curriculum areas. It also provides the students with valuable lessons in independence, self-care and organisation.

On Tuesday morning we were so very pleased to receive the following email from a fellow traveller:

The students (and staff) have been in great spirits throughout the trip. Here are a few snippets and photos the students would like to share with our Community.

  • On Tuesday we had an amazing time at Old Parliament House and the National Portrait Gallery. We also met the Governor General at historic Government House.
  • On Wednesday we took part in an emotional Wreath Laying and Closing Ceremony at the Australian War Memorial. We had a fun stroll down Anzac Parade and spent some time at the National Capital Exhibition. In the evening it was off to Questacon. Mr Izzard and Mrs Goss were very brave and joined us in having a go on the scary free fall slide.
  • On Thursday we were able to experience the Australian Institute of Sport first hand when we participated in sports events at the venue. It was wonderful to be met by Ms DePinto at Parliament House, and an evening visit to the Dinosaur Museum was fantastic fun. They have a very interesting gift shop at the museum!!
  • Today we are heading home, tired but having had a fantastic time. We look forward to seeing our families at the airport. See you then!

Enjoy the long weekend!

Kind Regards
