Around the Primary

It is hard to believe we are now at the end of Week 4.

This week we welcomed two special visitors to the College, Archbishop Timothy Costelloe and Sr Deirdre Brown. Archbishop Costelloe visited our Year 6 students.

Sr Deirdre thoroughly enjoyed meeting with groups of Primary and Secondary students to compose our new College song. Stay tuned!

Ash Wednesday marks the first day of Lent. Our students from Years 3-6 will attend Mass at 9.15am next Wednesday 5th March. Our Junior classes will be also participating in a Prayer Reflection on the day. The Mass will be followed by the blessing and distribution of the Leadership badges to our Year 6 students. All parents are welcome to attend the Mass at 9.15am, followed by our Badges ceremony at approximately 10 am.

Next Thursday 6th March is our Twilight Swimming Carnival at 5 pm at Claremont Pools. The students have worked very hard during their recent swimming lessons and many have also been training very hard after-school. It is hoped all families will be represented at this Carnival and support all of our students while they compete.

The students are also very excited about starting late on Friday 7th March at 11 am. Supervision will provided from 10.45 am and normal lessons will commence from 11 am. Our PreKindy Friday group will operate as normal on this day (9am - 11.30 am).

It has come to my attention that some families missed out on the opportunity to have 'family photos' taken this week. The photographer will return on Monday 10th March to take any remaining family photos. Please email Cath Philpot (philpot.catherine@johnxxiii.edu.au) by next Wednesday, 5th March if you would like a family photo to be taken.

Kindy 2016 enrolment interviews will begin next term. Please ensure you have submitted an enrolment form for your child to begin Kindy at the College. Please contact Kate Parker (Registrar) (parker.kate@johnxxiii.edu.au) if you have any queries.

Special thanks to all the parents who:

  • have enrolled their children in Sacramental programs at their home Parish. The staff and I look forward to supporting the children as they take the next step in their Sacramental journey.
  • came along to the Year 6 iPad Parent Workshop presented by Mrs Truscott and Mr Izzard.
  • visited the office to 'sign-out' their child/ren for appointments.
  • displayed the virtue of 'competence' in the carpark.

Enjoy the long week-end!
