Rowing News

The fantastic rowing season has continued with excellent results from our two All Schools regattas that John XXIII Rowing Club has competed in on the 6th and 20th of July. Many thanks to all the rowers who attended both regattas and raced in fine form. We had a great day of racing on the 6th of July with Ellie and Claire winning their Open Womens Double Scull. Evan and David won Heat One of the Under 15 Mens Double Scull, Matt and Liam took out first in Heat Two and Rosheen and Kate won the Under 15 Womens Double Scull. Our very first Under 15 Combined Eight came first with Matt, Liam, Rosheen, Kate, Nuala, Emersyn, David and Evan with Mikki Coxing. Our Under 15 Mens Quad with Ross, Alex, Matt and Liam came first also with Claire as their cox. Our Open Combined Eight came first with Jack, Toby, Eva, Ellie, Claire, Carla, Enyana and Alicia with Sophia as their cox. And a big special thank you to Winston Jenkins for coxing for Murdoch and taking them to victory in their E Grade Mens Quad Scull.

On the 20th of July Claire Knight won her Under 16 Womens Single Scull, and Rosheen Richards took out the Under 15 Womens Single Scull. The Year Eight Boys won their Under 15 Mens Quad Scull with David, Ross, Alex and Winston and Emersyn as cox. Luke coxed the Murdoch Mens Quad Scull to victory also.

Another big thank you goes out to the Parents and Coaches for supporting the crews, most regattas days end up going from 7.30am until 5.30pm and we couldn't do any of it without them. We have the MLC School Girls Regatta on this weekend on Saturday the 27th and we'd love to see parents make it out to Champion Lakes for this one. Boat Loading is Saturday morning at the sheds - see the email sent out for more details! Also keep an eye out for information about our QUIZ NIGHT on Saturday the 3rd of August at 7.00pm - book your tables quickly!
