Around the Primary

Dear Parents,

The fourth and final term for 2013 has begun with great gusto. Last Friday afternoon, we hosted our annual Grandparents' picnic. It was wonderful to see so many grandparents and other special guests visiting the classrooms, enjoying the entertainment and sharing lunch with the children. A great time was definitely had by the young and the not so young!

On Tuesday morning Roncalli Hall was filled to capacity for the Year One Assembly. Our delightful Year One's were transformed into sea-creatures with amazing costumes. They proudly recited poems and also sang and danced in front of a captive audience. Congratulations to all the students that also received a certificate on the day. A big thank you to Miss Joyce and Miss Davis for preparing the children so well for their debut on the big stage.

On Tuesday afternoon our senior students participated in a farewell ceremony for theYear 12 students. The Year 5 and 6 students presented each graduating student with a home-made card and the Primary Singers sang a special blessing. We wish the Year 12 students every success in their upcoming exams and also a bright future filled with many blessings.

This year we are so excited to have Primary Art included in the College Art Exhibition. Special thanks to Mrs Roche (Primary Art Specialist) for all her hard work. Tomorrow, 25th October is the final day to view the fabulous works of our Primary and Secondary students. Families and friends are welcome to come along to the Exhibition from 10 am to 2 pm on Saturday.

Mrs Roche and I also had the pleasure of attending the WA Children's Week Awards ceremony at the State Theatre this week. Abbey Chapman, Grace Barbour and Holly Cannon of Year 4 were proud recipients of a lovely medal to commend their artwork in the 'Go for 2 + 5' Art Competition. Their framed artwork is currently on display in the State Library and there is also a copy of their artwork in our College Art Exhibition. We are so proud of our talented artists!

Next Friday, 1st November, is our Junior Primary Sports Carnival. Let's all start praying for fine weather. Please take note of the information sent home regarding starting times, order of events etc for the Carnival. Everyone is welcome to come along and support our young athletes.

Kind Regards,

Antoinette De Pinto
