Around the Primary

Dear Parents

It was wonderful to see so many parents and grandparents visiting the Primary School on Monday evening. I'm sure you enjoyed finding out more about your child's learning journey in the various learning areas.

Congratulations to the Primary Staff on all the wonderful work they are doing with the students. Well done to all the students! We are very proud of your hard work, positivity and enthusiasm for learning. Special thanks to the Wanju Singers, Primary Singers, Year 5 Band, Year 6 Band, Guitar Ensemble, String Orchestra and all the music teachers and tutors for providing the lovely entertainment.

We have had a busy and productive term and can now look forward to a restful and revitalizing break in readiness for the final term of the year. Happy Holidays!

Kind regards

Antoinette De Pinto

10 Golden Rules for Parenting Success

After managing the chaos of the last few busy weeks, the school holidays offer me the chance to regroup and revamp my parenting and household management skills. For busy parents in the same boat, I came across this article from Michael Grose, '10 Golden Rules for Parenting Success' which offers some great insights for us all www.parentingideas.com.au/Home. I hope everyone has a great holiday and also the opportunity to enjoy some time with your beautiful children. If I can be of any assistance to help your child have an enjoyable, successful end to the school year, please don't hesitate to get in touch.

Last Thursday, John XXIII College competed in the IPSHA Co-Ed Athletics Carnival at All Saints College. The weather was great and our students performed very well. Although points are not scored, our athletes were highly competitive against the students from nine other schools. There were 93 events and our students gained 40 top four places, this was most impressive as there were ten competitors in each event.

Some of the outstanding first place results were:

  • Olive Matthews - Year 6 High Jump (B)
  • Tenley Burton - Year 3 Hurdles (B) and 200m (A)
  • Gabrielle Watts - Year 3 80m sprint (A) and 200m (B)
  • Eloise Tranquille, Gabrielle Watts, Charles McGurgan & Luke McLernon
    Year 3 Mixed (4 x 100m Circular Relay) Team - First Place001.jpg

This Carnival bought to a closure the Year 3-6 Athletics season. Congratulations to all our athletes who trained extremely hard and competed with great enthusiasm. Thank you to all the parents, relatives and friends who came along to support our athletes at the Carnival. I would also like to thank teachers Miss Talea Graves and Miss Caroline Gormley along with my Iona Year 12 Instep student Ashlee Hardisty for their assistance on the day. A special mention must be given to parents, Clare Croudace, Caroline Williamson and Simon King for their wonderful help at the Carnival.
