Sustainability

keep-australia-beautiful.jpgKeep Australia Beautiful Week 24 - 31 August is a time to raise awareness about the simple things we can all do in our daily lives to reduce our impact on the environment and encourage action. This year, we will focus on the issue of unsecured loads and the simple things we can do to create cleaner and safer roads.

Our recent littering research on the Mitchell Freeway revealed that approximately 40% of the litter retrieved had probably originated off the back of vehicles from unsecured loads rather than being deliberately discarded.

Adopt-a-Spot to keep your neighbourhood litter-free

The Keep Australia Beautiful WA (KAB WA) community litter prevention program Adopt-a-Spot, encourages individuals, community groups and businesses to 'adopt' a site in their local community to keep litter-free.

Adopters agree to look after a site for two years and KAB WA provides clean up tools, an adoption certificate, volunteer insurance, safety information and recognition on the Keep Australia Beautiful website honour roll.

It's a great way to get involved in your community, meet new people, get physically active and help keep your neighbourhood and WA litter-free.
