Around the Primary

Dear Parents,

Last Friday our Year 6 students participated in a Caritas 'Just Leadership' workshop. The students discovered how the combination of 'leadership' and 'justice' can be beneficial to all. The students spent time discussing what justice 'feels like', 'looks like' and 'sounds like' and they had some fantastic and well-thought out insights to share. The workshop provided the opportunity for the students to find out about the amazing work of Caritas and wondering how they could contribute and make a difference to bring justice into the world. In fact, the Year 6 students were even more motivated and excited about raising money for Project Compassion through their Monster Cake Stall today.

Congratulations to our Interschool Swimming Squad. They performed very well at the IPSHA Swimming Carnival on Thursday at Newman College. Special thanks to Mr Alderman, trainers from Uniswim and our wonderful parent helpers for all their hard work.

Next Friday, 28th March we will be celebrating Primary House Day. This involves the children participating in activities to learn about the founders of John XXIII College and to commemorate the House to which they will belong throughout their time at the College.

The format of Primary House Day includes:

9.00 am 'House Day' Mass

All parents are welcome to join us in the Chapel.

11.00 am - 12.00 pm House Day activities

12.45 pm - 1.15 pm Shared House Lunch - Sausage Sizzle or BYO

1.30 pm - 3.00 pm House Activities

On this day, the children are required to wear their House shirt and sports shorts. They will need to bring morning tea and their water bottle. A sausage sizzle will be provided for lunch by the College.

During the course of the day the PP-4 students will see a 'Bubble Show' and participate in tabloid sports. Our Years 5 and 6 will participate in fun and fitness games throughout the afternoon.

As part of our Assessment and Reporting process, Parent-Teacher Interviews will take place from Monday, 31st March 2014. This is a valuable time for you to spend with teachers to discuss your child's academic and social progress. A time sheet to choose preferences for interview times will be sent to all families today.

Kind Regards,

Antoinette De Pinto
