John XXIII Champion Schools Soccer Squads 2013

This year we will be entering two teams into the Champion Schools soccer tournament: junior boys (years 7-9) and senior boys (years 10-12). Not to be confused with the NAS team, the Champion Schools team is an additional team that draws from a greater pool of talent.

This is the first time we have entered the competition and forms part of a long term plan to develop soccer at the College. The junior boys' team trials attracted a lot of promising talent from year 7 in particular. The balance of the team is made from a handful of talented players from years 8-9. The first friendly is arranged against Scotch College on Tuesday 7th May at JTC. Players from this team are also eligible to play for their respective NAS year specific teams. The final trial for this team is on Saturday 13th April at 8:45am.

The senior boy's squad has attracted a very dedicated and enthusiastic group of players from year 10. They have already played two friendly matches, one against a local Sunday premier league side and the other against Christ Church Grammar School. The next friendly match is against Scotch College on Wed 8th May at JTC. Players from this team are also eligible to play for their respective NAS year specific teams.

The idea of combined teams is to bring together and develop the most dedicated and promising players. By building an ethos of commitment and hard work, we hope to sustain this great team sport for years to come. Training and games will continue throughout terms 2-3.
