Around the Primary

Dear Parents

The Family Primary Picnic was a lovely evening with families
gathering and enjoying each other's company on the oval. It
was wonderful to see so many smiling faces and hear happy
greetings from parents and students from around the primary
school. Thank you to all who attended and to those who
assisted and organised the entertainment for the children.

Our sincere thanks to the Parents' Association and the amazing
team of helpers for all your hard work behind scenes - your
efforts are very much appreciated. By all accounts, the annual
picnic on Saturday evening was a resounding success. Bravo!

At last Friday's assembly, Earth Carers staff and a special battery mascot launched our Battery Recycling Program. This is part of our Sustainability initiatives and the students are encouraged to collect used household batteries from their families and friends and bring them to school for recycling. Our College has become part of the western suburb's School's Battery Recycling Competition. Our batteries will be collected, weighed and sent for recycling. The winning school receives one year's membership to the REmida Creative Reuse Centre. The types of batteries accepted include AA and AAA cells (single use & rechargeable), C and D size, button batteries (e.g. from watches), and 9V and 6V batteries (e.g. lantern/torch batteries). The battery recycling bin can be found in the front office.

Together we can work to recycle and
keep batteries out of landfill

After school on Tuesday our primary swimming squad
participated in the Interschool Swimming Carnival at Newman
College. Congratulations to all our Year 3, 4, 5 and 6 super
swimmers for all their efforts and enthusiasm at the carnival.
A big thank you to Mr Alderman, Miss Monastra, Mrs Chiappini,
Miss Coniglio, Mrs Gardner and all the parents who assisted at
the carnival. It was so great to see so many families coming
along to support and cheer the children in their events.

An integral part of the Year 3 preparation for Reconciliation is the Retreat Day. Today the children participated in many reflective activities with Mrs Vicoli, Mrs Distante, Mrs Young, Mrs Gardner and Fr Gaetan. Please keep the children in your prayers as they are now in the final stages of their preparation for their First Reconciliation.
