ACC Boys' Hockey Team

The ACC Boys' Hockey team performed brilliantly in 2015 and qualified for the State Final. Unfortunately the boys lost to Como in the final; the score was 3-1. It was a very even contest with some excellent passages of play from both sides. The team played the game in the right spirit and the boys were a credit to the College. Como got out to an early 2-0 lead with goals in the 5th and 6th minute. Como threatened again before John XXIII halted their momentum and pulled a goal back in the 22nd minute through Charlie Hosken. The second half was a tight affair with both teams creating chances but neither side really threatening to score. As the game entered the final stages, John XXIII pushed numbers forward in an attempt to equalise and produced an excellent scoring opportunity down the left hand side in the 57th minute with clean circle possession however the shot failed to trouble the goalkeeper. Como produced the killer blow in the 64th minute when a circle entry on the right allowed Como to score with a near post deflection. Como and John XXIII won through to the final after finishing first and second respectively following the semi-final day where the top two teams from the Associated & Catholic College of WA, SSWA Senior High Schools Country Week and the Public Schools' Association, and are invited to compete with the top team from the SSWA Metropolitan After School Competition and the SSWA Metropolitan One Day competition.
