Around the Primary

Antoinette De Pinto - Head of Primary

The Australian Government recognises the importance of all young Australians being able to visit their National Capital as part of their civics and citizenship education. We would like to thank the Australian Government for contributing $240.00 per student under the Parliament and Civics Education Rebate programme toward the travel expenses incurred.

Next week the Year 3 and 5 students will be participating in the National Assessment Programme for Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN). Special thanks to the teachers for all their work in preparing the students for these assessments. Although these National Assessments are important, we all need to remember that the tests are only a snapshot of students learning in a particular Learning Area on a given day. Our students' learning and development occurs throughout the whole year during all their years in Primary School.

Today the whole primary school celebrated Mass dedicated to all our wonderful Mothers. It was fantastic to see many Mums gathered together for Mass and morning tea. It was lovely to have this opportunity to share a cup of tea, a scone and a chat with all of you. We hope you also enjoyed visiting the classrooms. To those Mums who couldn't come along, you were definitely thought of and celebrated too! Special thanks to Miss Joyce, Miss Davis, Mrs Allen and all of the Year One children for preparing our beautiful liturgy. A big thank you to Wayne Burke and Ben Fry for their hard work behind the scenes.

I hope you enjoy reading some of the little snippets we have included in this week's newsletter to celebrate Mums and motherhood.

Enjoy Mother's Day on Sunday!
