Around the Primary

Dear Parents

Our Primary Dancers, the Year 6 Band and the Year 6 Drummers performed magnificently at the Catholic Schools Performing Arts Festival. A big thank you to Ms Bott, Mrs Morell and Mrs Walker for all their hard work preparing the students for these performances.

Special thanks to all the parents for supporting the staff and students at these events. We are very proud of the students' efforts and commitment to the Arts.

As you are aware, the celebration of John XXIII College Day is scheduled for next Friday the 16th of August. It is one of the special occasions during the year when the entire student body are involved in community celebrations.

The outline of the day will be as follows:

8.45 - 10.30

Class time and Mass

10.30 - 11.00

Recess (snacks to be provided by Parents)

11.00 - 11.30

Class-based activities

11.30 Onwards

Fun and games at the Mini Fete

12pm

Lunch

1.30 - 3.00

Pre-Primary to Year 2: Disco & Movie in the Lecture Theatre
Years 3 & 4 - Activities at Lords
Years 5 & 6 - Movie in Lecture Theatre & then a Disco

3.00 - 3.15

Class time, clean up and dismissal

Children are required to wear their sports uniform and House shirt for the day. Students will be able to browse the 'Mini-Fete' which will consist of various games and food novelties. On this day our normal nutrition guidelines are relaxed but parents may like to provide guidelines on the day for their individual children. PrePrimary and Year 1 students will be accompanied to the mini-fete by a buddy under the direction of their teacher.

While it is always at a parent's discretion, we recommend the following guidelines for spending money.

PrePrimary and Year 1 - 2 x $1.00 Gold coins = $2.00
Year 2-6 - $5 to $10

Let's pray for fine weather on the day and that a magnificent celebratory spirit will be present on John XXIII Day.

Congratulations to Matthew Coker, Amy Exten, Joseph Hardisty, Samuel Jobson, Olivia Purnell and Caitlin Thornton who will be receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation at St Cecilia's, Floreat this weekend.

Thank you to Mr Casey and Year 6B for organising a wonderful assembly today, it was a great way for us to learn more about the interesting and diverse Year 6 curriculum. Well done to all the children who received a certificate or a music award - we are very proud of all of you!

Yours sincerely
