Library

Notice to Students:

Have a say in the books we purchase for the Library!

Students from Years 9 to 12 are invited to look at our new consignment of books and help us choose for the Library Collection. Interested students can ask at the Library Help Desk to look at the books and make some choices.

General

There is a variety of new books on display in the Library. In particular, there are a number of novels for upper secondary. Students are encouraged to come in to browse. Our Library monitors have been busy selecting works of interest to them. Students may enjoy reading books their peers have found enjoyable.

Library hours have been extended to give Year 12 students extra time for their study. We open at 7.30am and close at 5pm, except Wednesday when we open until 6pm for year 12 students. We close at 4pm on Friday. I am available to help year 12 students with English, Literature, Media and Religion and Life from 5pm to 6pm on Wednesday.

Media equipment is loaned from the Library Help Desk to Year 11 and 12 Media students only. Students need to book equipment with Catherine Woods, woods.catherine@johnxxiii.edu.au, at least two days prior to the day they expect to collect it. We cannot loan equipment without a booking. Loans for media equipment are three days only, except during holidays. Loans can be renewed if needed. As with Library books, if equipment is not returned a reminder letter will be sent out. Lost or damaged media equipment will need to be replaced, in this case parents will be sent an account. Given the demand for the equipment by students, it is really important borrowed items are returned on time.

Book Week is celebrated in Week 5. The theme this year is Reading Across the Universe. Plans are underway to make this an exciting time for all book lovers. The events for the week will be published closer to the date. We look forward to seeing the Library full of students engaged in all the exciting activities we have planned.
