Around the Primary

Dear Parents

Our Primary School community celebrated Primary House Day in fine style today. The day began with a lovely Mass celebrated with Fr Andrew from St Cecilia's Parish in Floreat. Fr Andrew was very happy to see some familiar faces in the Chapel.

During the homily Fr Andrew reminded the students of three important points:

  • BELONGING - we all belong to a House and need to be proud of the House we belong to
  • BECOMING - to be the best person you can be

BELIEVING in yourself to achieve your personal best.

The students then spent the rest of the day finding out more about the House they belong to and also participating in fun and 'hands-on' activities.

The Pre Primary children loved getting to know the farm animals that made a special visit to our school today.

The Year 1 and 2 children enjoyed taking part in the 'hands-on' maths incursion.

Year 3-6 had a great time in the gym participating in the tabloid sports organized by Mr Alderman.

Troy Cook also met with the Year 3, 4 and 5 students to talk about his Indigenous heritage, football career and also the importance of setting personal goals.

A highlight of the day was the Year 6 Monster Cake Stall. The Year 6's raised $1150.00 for Project Compassion - an amazing effort!

The picnic on the front lawn was a great success too!

Everyone had a great day and I take this opportunity to thank the staff for all their hard work.

A big thank you to our Assistant Principals, Ms Allen for preparing the liturgy for us all to enjoy and to Ms Joyce for organizing the incursions.

Parent Teacher Meetings begin next week and the teachers are looking forward to having valuable conversations with parents. These discussions are a core part of our reporting process to enable both parents and teachers to work in partnership for the benefit of the child. Thank you to all those who have so far booked an interview time.

We have again employed the team of speech pathologists from Fremantle Speech Pathology Services to screen all Pre-Primary children in Term Two for Oral Narrative, Verbal Comprehension, Speech Production, and Phonological Awareness.

These results are critical for a child's literacy development in the Early Years. Results of these assessments will be invaluable in allowing us to develop the most appropriate pre-literacy program for the children.

A parent information meeting will be held on Monday 4th April at 6.30pm in the Pre-Primary classroom. Jenny Baker, speech pathologist from Fremantle Speech Pathology Services, will be explaining the process and answering any questions. This meeting is highly recommended for all Pre-Primary parents to attend.

Enjoy the weekend!

Kind regards
