Year 8 News

On Friday 18 March Year 8 students spent part of their day in a Day of Commitment. They were challenged to focus on their role as students at the College. Mrs Murphy, Director of Mission, led the students through the Year of Mercy with a focus on Caritas and Project Compassion. This was appropriate during Lent and coincided with the 'Live Simply Day', which many Year 8 students supported.

Ms Morey, the College Psychologist, introduced the theme of our 3 Rs - Resilience, Respect and Responsibility. The aim of the day was to empower students with tools and strategies that could help them through their school journey.

Another aspect was that our Year 11 Leaders worked with the Year 8 Homerooms on the broader theme of being a John XXIII College student.

The day finished with our guest speaker, Adam Przytula, Director of 'Armed for Life', who took the students through a session on resilience and decision making. He used humour and stories to engage the students.
