Year 11 News

The past few weeks have been particularly busy for the Year 11 cohort.

The Year 11 students participated in the Id Quod Volo ("That which I desire") Leadership Day with their Homeroom Teacher and House Coordinator on Thursday 18 June. The day marked the start of their journey towards Student Leadership in 2016. The students will take the next four weeks to discern whether or not they will nominate for a formal leadership position in Year 12. Each House travelled to a different venue to further develop skills in the areas of leadership, team work, communication, service and reflection. The day's activities also focused upon the nature of the various leadership positions and the criteria and process for nomination. Thank you to the House Coordinators for arranging such enjoyable and meaningful days.

The Year 11 Supper Dance concluded Week 18. Held at the Fremantle Sailing Club, the theme for the evening was 'Enchanted'. The students looked amazing and the dance floor was packed all night. The DJ, Photographer and Function Coordinator all made a point of mentioning how impressed they were with the calibre of students in attendance. Thank you to the Student Representative Council and in particular, Jaime Slabbert, the Events Captain, for the hard work and organisation that went into ensuring the night was a success. Thanks must also go to the staff in attendance, who had just as good a time as the students.

Students have been sent a link to the photographer's website with the login password to view and order the formal photographs from the Supper Dance.

Congratulations to Alisha Rodrigo for achieving an exhibition in the Shaun Tan Art Awards. There were over 1700 entries in this competition and only 58 pieces selected for exhibition. Her artwork is on display at the Subiaco Library.

Good luck to the students who are heading off on Saturday to the Australian Jesuit Schools' Debating Carnival hosted by St Aloysius' College, NSW. Year 11 students Connor Jenkins, Therese Geurrera, Breandan Kirwan and Sophie Minissale have been preparing with past student Will Paparo. We wish them well for the Carnival.

I hope all Year 11 students and their families have a safe and happy holiday break.
