Head Lice Guidelines

The College's responsibility is:

• to develop, implement and maintain Head Lice management Guidelines;

• to ensure that parents and staff are aware of the College Head Lice Guidelines.

 • follow guidelines for treatment and exclusion from school as per Department of Healths Head Lice Policy.

THE COLLEGE FOLLOWS THE GUIDELINES FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH WHEN A CHILD IS FOUND TO HAVE HEAD LICE. 

The Parents’ responsibilities are:

• to learn about head lice infestation and management by reading the Department of Health’s Head Lice Fact Sheet. This can be obtained from Department of Health website: www.health.wa.gov.au/headlice.

• to regularly check their child’s hair for head lice infestation

• to treat their child’s hair immediately if the child has head lice, using the advice in the Department of Health's Head Lice Fact Sheet

• to inform the school and other close contacts if their child has a head lice infestation, and to confirm treatment by returning the treatment form to the class teacher or College nurse.

The COLLEGE Nurse’s role is:

 

• To provide information, advice and education to parents and the school community about head lice management

  • when a child in a class has head lice infestation, parent is contacted and Head Lice treatment form is given to parent to complete and return to class teacher or College nurse. Class parents are given notes to inform them.

• To provide additional advice for families experiencing persistent head lice infestation
